Hastie awarded Qatar contracts
May 18, 2010
Hastie Group Limited (HST) said it has received contracts for four projects in Qatar with a total value of $66 million. The company said opportunities for further works in the Middle-Eastern nation are likely due to its large gas reserves and growing economy.
Hastie said it has been appointed by Leighton Contracting Qatar to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, including fire and CCTV, infrastructure control systems & instrumentation and chlorination work, for a $233 million water infrastructure project that includes nine reservoirs and would link two Qatari communities.
The company said works would begin in June 2010, with completion expected over 15 months.
Hastie said the second, smaller infrastructure project, for the Public Works Authority of Qatar, is to provide pipeline reticulation for office cooling systems as part of the US$2.6 billion Energy City project.
The company said the other project involves mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, including fire-fighting systems, for a major hotel development for Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company.
Hastie said it commenced works on the project this month with a completion scheduled for November 2011.
The company said it was also appointed by the Sinohydro-Gamuda WTC Joint Venture to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the New Doha International Airport aircraft wash apron.
Hastie is already undertaking work in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
At the close of trade Tuesday, Hastie shares were trading at $1.52.
